Matchstick Men (2003)
"Have you ever been dragged to the sidewalk and beaten till you PISSED ... BLOOD!"
Ah yes, the words of a madman. I was recommended this movie a while ago before I lifted my Nic Cage ban. So for a while now I had been intentionally putting it off. Really on the very surface of things its just yet another movie about Nic Cage being a headcase. Throughout the movie he's apparently got a magical disease or phobia that a shrink proves to be just a psychological thing. Nic Cage's character Roy Waller finds out that he has a daughter and sets out on a venture to become closer to her. As far as the movie goes, it starts really good and it ends really good. The part in between those to points was certainly not the greatest I've ever seen. There were two huge twists in the movie, both of which I'm not going to reveal, because no matter how much I hate Nic Cage, the movie as a whole wasn't that bad. That's not because I'm biased towards Ridley Scott either. Well, for the most part. If anything it's borderline watchable even if it isn't something I'd watch again. Certainly not for Nic Cage.
